Introduction

The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department offers multiple ways for students to engage with public health while providing a setting to learn and apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations. To be eligible, the applicant must be enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or professional student in a degree program at an accredited college or university. High school students interested in a career in public health may also be accepted.

Program timelines are flexible and may be adjusted to accommodate the student's academic schedule. TLCHD reserves the right to decline any applicant, based on the number of students currently participating in student experiences; the availability of space and opportunities; and the health department’s current workload. Please note: Most student experiences with the health department are unpaid.
