The Health Department’s Local Office on Minority Health is proud to present the 38th Annual Minority Health Month’s planned events throughout April.
Spring Into Health Literacy | |

Health literacy refers to the ability to locate, comprehend, and apply health information to make informed decisions, navigate medical appointments, understand patient rights, and more. MaryAnn Nicolay from Ohio Health Literacy Partners will lead an educational session on this important topic. Additionally, Mercy Community Health Nurses will be available to offer blood pressure and glucose screenings for community members. Attendees can also enjoy refreshments and participate in a raffle with exciting prizes.

This event will highlight clean living, non-toxic products, herb cultivation and use, composting, and recycling, along with a guided greenhouse tour. Attendees can take part in family-friendly projects, create healthy snacks, and plant seeds. The event will also feature gift basket raffles and exciting giveaways.

With a central focus on children, families will have access to resources for nutrition, mental well-being, physical movement, and more wellness topics. This event will also include fun activities such as bounce houses and a rock-climbing wall. Food will be provided.
