The simple act of buckling a seatbelt is known to decrease the severity of injuries and can be the difference between life and death. According to national and local data, seatbelts reduce the risk of fatal injury by nearly half. This event aims to raise awareness and celebrate lives saved by this small but powerful action.
The event will include crash statistics from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a color guard performance, and a display of patrol vehicles. A special on-field ceremony will honor 15 local residents, ages 9 to 71, who survived serious crashes because they were buckled up. Troopers will also throw the game’s ceremonial first pitch ahead of the 7:05 p.m. Toledo Mud Hens vs. Louisville Bats game.
