Health Department Issues Stay- at- Home Advisory

The Lucas County Regional Board of Health unanimously passed a resolution to support the Stay-at Home Advisory. The advisory is effective immediately.

The advisory is in response to rapid increases in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and the community positivity rate.

TLCHD’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Eric Zgodzinski is advising all residents of Lucas County to stay at home to the greatest extent possible. Residents are advised only to leave home to go to work or school or for essential needs such as medical care, groceries, medicine, and food pickup.

Residents are strongly advised not to have any guests in their homes unless they are essential workers, including for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Lucas County residents are also urged to limit meetings and social events to 10 individuals, both indoors and outside, and to avoid traveling in and out of the state.

The Stay at Home Advisory supplements all current orders set forth by Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.

“We, as a community, need to pull together to take the necessary precautions, to protect the health of ourselves, our loved ones, and preserving our healthcare systems,” said Health Commissioner, Dr. Eric Zgodzinski. “Lucas County has reached a critical point in the second surge of COVID-19, requiring us to undertake an extensive effort to slow the spread.”

The Health Department reminds residents to take time to stay mindful of both mental and physical health, during this time through routine communication with friends and loved ones, good nutrition, and physical activity.

The Stay- at- Home Advisory will remain in place until December 17, two consecutive incubation periods of COVID-19 (28 days), or until the Board of Health determine a change to the guidance is appropriate.
