Lucas County Opiate Coalition to Host 7th Annual Chalk the Walk

Each year, hundreds of people in Lucas County die as a result of opioid-related overdose and injury. In remembrance of all who have lost their lives, the Lucas County Opiate Coalition will host a day-long event:

WHAT:Chalk the Walk  
WHEN:Saturday, September 13, 2025 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  
WHERE:Promenade Park 400 Water St. Toledo, OH 43604  

Local artists, family, and friends will “Chalk the Walk” by creating chalk art on the sidewalks at Promenade Park. Chalk will be provided for the public and community members to leave messages and drawings on the surrounding sidewalks.

Toledo-Lucas County Health Department will provide naloxone training & distribution, along with opioid overdose education. Planned memorial activities in collaboration with community partners will also take place.

A remembrance ceremony will take place with the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board. Following the remembrance ceremony, Reading of the Names submitted by those who lost a loved one will take place. Participants are permitted to bring chairs, blankets, and yoga mats.
